Worcester Massachusetts Real Estate

Starting with six agents in 2002, the Worcester office has grown rapidly to an office with 39 agents, 30 of which are full-time.

Now one of the top agencies in the Worcester market, the strength of the Worcester office is in residential re-sales, condo conversions and the sale of multifamily homes.  It also has agents trained to sell historic homes and to serve the diverse urban community – including Hispanic, Albanian and gay markets.

The Worcester office is located in more than 4,000 square feet in a two-story brick office building at 29 East Mountain St., an accessible location featuring an oversized conference room that is used for everything from local training and orientation programs for new agents to national speakers.  With agents for both buyers and sellers, and a mortgage company and law firm in the same building, the Worcester office can serve as a one-stop location for both home buyers and home sellers.

In spite of its growth, the Worcester office still has room for additional agents.  Anyone interested in joining the growing Worcester office should contact Office Manager Mary Tavolieri at 508-853-0964.

“It’s appropriate that the Worcester office calls itself ‘Team ERA,’ because that’s how business is done here.  All of the agents work together.  Other agents are supportive of each other and cooperative and share valuable feedback.”
Tom Davis, ERA Key agent since 2005

“I came to ERA Key as a new agent in September of 2001.  I chose this company because of the training, technology advancement and agent support.  The management team is always available to answer questions, offer support and encourage me in my real estate career.”
Karen Dauderis, ERA Key agent since 2001

Local Facts

Worcester is known as the “Heart of the Commonwealth,” but it is also the heart of New England, centrally located within 38 miles of Boston, 43 miles of Providence, 53 miles of Springfield, Mass. and 64 miles of Hartford.

Easy access to Routes 290, 9, 190 and the Massachusetts Turnpike make Worcester an ideal home for commuters – as well as an ideal destination.  Commuter rail service is available between Boston and Worcester from the historic Union Station.

With a population of 176,000, Worcester is the third largest city in New England and is the fastest growing city in Massachusetts, according to a recent study.  A million people live within a 25-mile radius of Worcester and six million live within 50 miles of the city.

Well known for its colleges and hospitals, institutions based in Worcester include the Massachusetts Biotechnology Research Park, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester State College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Assumption College, Clark University, the College of the Holy Cross, the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Becker College, Quinsigamond Community College, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Incorporated in 1722, Worcester became a major industrial center after the opening of the Blackstone Canal in 1828.  The canal linked Worcester with Providence.  Worcester played a role in both the American Revolution and the industrial revolution.  Worcester was home to pamphleteer Isaiah Thomas, whose words helped unite opposition to the British, and the city participated in Shays' Rebellion, a revolt against excessive taxation of land that led to the creation of the U.S. Constitution.

Scientists from the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology developed the birth control pill in the 1950s and Robert Goddard, father of modern rocketry, conducted his first experiments in Worcester in the 1920s.

Cultural institutions in the city include the Worcester Art Museum; Mechanics Hall; The DCU Center; the American Antiquarian Society; the Worcester Historical Museum; Higgins Armory, an armor museum, and the EcoTarium, a science museum.
